Description: Mike Mills and Joaquin Phoenix bring us something truly special with C’Mon C’Mon, the story of a journalist interviewing kids across the country. On paper, that premise may sound predictable, but the chemistry between Phoenix and Woody Norman on screen enlivens an otherwise quiet road drama by keeping the state of the world at large front and center. Written and Directed by Mike Mills, C’Mon C’Mon sees a relationship between its two leads carry the film. Throughout Phoenix’s on screen work getting children to say interesting things about the world and their lives, doesn’t interfere with the story or get tiresome to be around. Instead, it speaks to something more challenging, what one generation can learn from another, and what they’re willing to engage with in the first place.
